Who they are

Founded in 1960, it is one of Mexico's leading manufacturers and distributors of paints and coatings. Headquartered in Monterrey, Nuevo León, the group has diversified its presence through specialized brands such as Pinturas Doal (architectural finishes), Innova Recubrimientos (industrial sector), Indy (automotive refinishing), and Fortequim (solvents). Its philosophy centers on innovation and service, successfully serving domestic and international markets through a robust commercial network and cutting-edge technology.

The challenge

In an increasingly demanding commercial environment, meeting sales targets no longer depends on commercial effort alone. Proper inventory management has become a strategic factor for guaranteeing product availability, controlling costs, and protecting business profitability. In this context, Grupo DOAL took a decisive step by betting on the analytical optimization of its commercial chain.

The challenge was clear: on one side, the commercial areas needed the right products, in the right places and at the right time; on the other, senior management sought that same goal at the lowest possible cost, avoiding unproductive inventory and unnecessary financial risk from idle working capital. The question was inevitable: is it possible to balance both interests?

The leadership vision

For Luis Santacruz, CEO of Grupo DOAL, the answer lay in data and models. With practical and theoretical experience in supply chain modeling, Santacruz understood that the real challenge was not a lack of information, but transforming that information into optimal decisions.

Grupo DOAL had already made a significant investment in transactional systems (SAP), generating a solid and reliable base of commercial data. However, as the project itself points out, these systems are management tools, not optimization tools. The next step required a strategic partner with advanced analytical capabilities.

The solution

The project began with the extraction, cleansing, and standardized structuring of information from the transactional system. This step made it possible to analyze precisely the real behavior of demand at every point of the commercial network, identifying patterns, variability, and risk levels associated with each product and location.

On that analytical foundation, Aleph5 implemented an optimization architecture able to automatically parameterize every strategic product at every node of the network, enabling a level of granularity and control that would be unfeasible under traditional schemes. This approach made it possible to dynamically adapt inventory parameters to the specific characteristics of each SKU and location, guaranteeing precision without increasing operational complexity.

As a result, the recalibrated parameters were integrated automatically into the transactional system, aligning operational decisions with a quantitative logic of optimization, risk control, and balance between service level and working capital

Results

The benefits did not take long to become evident:

  • Greater availability of strategic products
  • Increased customer service level and lower lost-sales risk
  • Reduced inventory management costs
  • Analytical control of lost sales
  • Less unproductive working capital

Why Aleph5

The strategic partner in this process was Aleph5, a firm specialized in analytical engineering and advanced optimization for business decision-making. From the outset, the initiative was structured as a high-level technical collaboration, integrating Aleph5's technological capability with the deep operational knowledge of Grupo DOAL's executive and functional team.

But perhaps the greatest value of the project lies in its dynamic approach. Optimization is not conceived as an isolated event, but as a continuous process. Aleph5's models observe commercial and inventory movements daily, detecting changes in demand behavior and signaling when it is necessary to re-optimize.

Thanks to this adaptive, modern vision, Grupo DOAL's companies have strengthened their ability to respond to the market with agility, while Aleph5 consolidates its position as a strategic ally capable of bringing advanced analytics to real business decisions. The project shows that when executive leadership, the right technology, and the right models converge, optimization stops being a theoretical concept and becomes a sustainable competitive advantage.
